WHAT IS ONC?
Onc, or Oncology Interest Group, is a student interest group based at The University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences that aims to showcase the exciting world of oncology to the community.

We at Onc see an exciting future for New Zealand in the field of oncology - NZ is poised to take its place among world-leaders in cancer research and clinical oncology. We want to help reach our national potential in this arena by fostering an eager and highly-skilled group of future leaders in oncology.
WHAT DO WE DO?
New Zealand has one of the highest overall cancer incidences in the world with approximately 1 in 3 deaths due to cancer. This disease is an important aspect of medical practice in all clinical domains. Oncology is a fast-paced, constantly evolving specialty with regular breakthroughs in preclinical and clinical research.
To keep up with these rapid evolutions, we at Onc hold multiple events that aim in promoting awareness and learning of general or specific cancer based on multiple perspectives. We also hold multiple fundraising and awareness events. We encourage any members of the public who are interested in oncology to come to our events!

For medical students of varying background level, Onc will also hold ward visits and career-related events to increase their exposure to the field of oncology
